Short answer: Nordic Crew Worldwide delivers sailing yachts, motor yachts and catamarans to and from every coastal country in the EU — and between Europe, the UK, Norway and the Caribbean. A professional yacht delivery in Europe is planned around four things: the sea area and season (the Baltic and North Sea in summer, the Mediterranean most of the year, the Atlantic in carefully chosen windows), the route (the Kiel Canal, the English Channel, the Bay of Biscay and the Strait of Gibraltar link north and south), the yacht’s papers (registration, insurance and proof of VAT status) and a qualified crew that knows the waters. Routes, seasons and paperwork are covered country by country.

Whether you search for yacht delivery in Denmark, Bootsüberführung in Germany, convoyage de voilier in France, traslado de barcos in Spain or jachtoverbrenging in the Netherlands, the job is the same: move your boat safely, on time and in good condition. This guide gives an overview of yacht delivery across Europe, region by region.

Popular delivery routes across Europe
- Scandinavia → Mediterranean: the classic route south via the Kiel Canal, the North Sea, the English Channel, the Bay of Biscay and Gibraltar. Read our Scandinavia to Mediterranean guide.
- Mediterranean → Northern Europe: the same route in reverse, usually in spring so the yacht arrives for the northern summer.
- Within the Mediterranean: for example Spain to Croatia, France to Greece or Italy to Malta — often for a change of home port or charter base.
- Baltic and North Sea moves: between Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany and the Netherlands, often through the Kiel Canal.
- Europe ↔ Caribbean: across the Atlantic in autumn via the Canaries, and back in spring via the Azores. See Mediterranean to Caribbean and Caribbean to Europe.
The key passages that link Europe’s seas
- The Kiel Canal — the short cut between the Baltic and the North Sea.
- The North Sea and English Channel — tides, traffic separation schemes and wind farms.
- The Bay of Biscay — the most respected open-water leg on the route south.
- The Iberian coast — where orca interactions must be part of the plan.
- The Strait of Gibraltar — the gateway between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean.
- Mediterranean winds — Mistral, Tramontana, Meltemi, Bora and more.
Paperwork for a delivery within Europe
Inside the EU, a yacht can usually move between member states without customs formalities — but the paperwork on board still matters. Before a delivery, make sure the crew has:
- the registration document (flag state certificate) and, if the owner is not on board, a letter of authority for the skipper;
- insurance covering the whole route and a professional delivery crew — see our insurance guide;
- proof of VAT status — EU authorities can ask for evidence that VAT has been paid or that the yacht is under temporary admission;
- the radio licence and the CE or builder’s documentation where relevant.
Leaving the EU — for example to the UK, Norway, Turkey or the Caribbean — means customs and immigration formalities on departure and arrival. Some countries also charge local fees, such as cruising or sojourn taxes. Requirements change, so we check them for every delivery. This is general information, not legal or tax advice.
Sail it, motor it or ship it?
For most yachts in Europe, delivery by sea with a professional crew is the most flexible and economical option. Road transport makes sense for smaller boats and inland destinations, and shipping on a cargo vessel for long ocean legs or motor yachts with limited range. What a Europe-wide yacht delivery costs
Most deliveries are priced per day or per mile, plus expenses: fuel, marina fees, crew travel and food. Distance, season, the size and type of yacht and the number of crew decide the total. Read how much yacht delivery costs for a breakdown.
